Mountain Jam Music Festival

With festivals galore New York is set for an awesome Summer of music.  There’s the Catskill Chill Music Festival as well as the Buffalove Music Festival.  Don’t forget about the 2014 Mountain Jam.  It certainly looks like upstate NY is the place to be this Summer if you are in search of some great music.

What Is Mountain Jam

If you aren’t familiar with Mountain Jam its a four day event taking place between June 5th and 8th.  As with many other music festivals there will be multiple stages where you can catch some of your favorite bands.  This year’s festival will showcase more than 40 bands.  The setting for the festival is gorgeous and the Mountain Jam Festival continually receives accolades for how great an experience it is for the fans and the bands as well.

You can pick up 3 & 4 day festival packages that come with or without camping.  If you really want to have the full experience of Mountain Jam you can look into the VIP, Super VIP and Ultimate Jammer Passes.  If you don’t feel like attending the entire event you can purchase single day passes.   Each ticket package comes with different perks and benefits.  All of the details of the various ticket packages are available on the Mountain Jam website.

That’s some general info about the festival but what it’s really all about is the music.  Lets take a look at some of the artists that will be jamming this year.

Mountain Jam Lineup

As always there are some incredible acts scheduled this year.  Artists include The Allman Brothers Band who will be performing their first two albums, the legendary Bob Weir and Ratdog, Gov’t Mule, Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Umphrey’s McGee and a ton of other bands to make sure that you won’t run out of top-notch music for the duration of your stay at the festival.  You can view the full lineup and schedule here.

Besides several days of killer jams there are plenty of other activities to keep your body and mind busy.  There will be workshops scheduled throughout the weekend featuring different musicians, artists and performers that will give you insight into the work they do.  If you need to relax you can participate in Yoga and Gong Sound Healing, take a sky ride up Hunter Mountain or get a therapeutic massage.

If you are looking for something a bit more visually stimulating you can enjoy the fireworks show, the Shilly Shally Fire Troupe or check out the Liquid Light Lab.

If you feel like performing you can sit in on one of the many drum circles that will be thumping throughout the weekend.  Don’t be shy either.  Beginners are welcome and its a great way to meet people, jam and have fun.  Even better why not pop over to the open mic and show the Mountain Jam community why they need to add you to next year’s lineup.

If you’ve always wanted to meet some of your favorite bands you will have that opportunity too.  This year many artists will be hanging out in the Awareness Village where you can get some merch signed after the band’s set.  Be sure to swing by the Radio Woodstock Artist Signing Tent to find the schedule of who will be pulling out their pen to sign some stuff.

The list of activities is long so be sure to check out the website for a full list of things to do during the weekend.

Man!  With all of these great festivals taking place in upstate NY this Summer it might be time to plan an extended trip to the Northeast.

We’ll be reaching out to many of the performers as well as the event promoters to see if we can nail down some interviews.  Check back as we’ll keep bringing you updates from this year’s Mountain Jam.  If you are attending be sure to follow @guitarnewsdaily and send us some tweets from the event.
