LOS ANGELES –Kenny Wayne Shepherd will play the same guitar on which Jimi Hendrix played “The Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock when Shepherd performs Wednesday with the Experience Hendrix Tour in New York.

It will be the first time the guitar has been played before a live audience in more than 40 years.

Shepherd will also play it on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” that night.

Usually the guitar is on display at the Experience Music Project in Seattle.

The guitar needs some modifications in order for Shepherd to play it.

Hendrix was left-handed, so he played right-handed guitars upside down and restrung them.

The guitar will be restrung again because Shepherd is right-handed.
