The Catskill Chill Music Festival will take place September 5-7, 2014

If you haven’t heard of the Catskill Chill Music Festival don’t worry because I’m going to tell you a little about it.  I’ve also reached out and hope to follow up this article with as many interviews as possible from the bands that will be attending this year’s event as well as the event promoters themselves so be sure to stay tuned for follow up news and info as it comes in.

This is the 5th year of the 3 day festival.  Past performers include Keller Williams, Soulive, Umphrey’s McGee, Dumpstaphunk, Yonder Mountain String Band (returning this year), The Meter Men, Galactic and many many many more.

Catskill Chill Music Festival 2014 Lineup

For the 2014 event the tradition of great bands continues.  This year you will be able to hear from bands such as Yonder Mountain String Band with Allie Kral, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Break Science, Nahko And Medicine For The People, Marco Benevento, Lettuce and more.  The list goes on and on and instead of listing out all of the bands performing I will be reaching out to as many as possible to get their thoughts on the event.  But just looking at this year’s list you will be in store for a weekend of great music.

Catskill Chill Music Festival Info

The event will be held at Camp Minglewood in Hancock, NY.  What makes this event different from many of the other festivals is that you will get to check out big name acts but will do so in a ‘secluded summer camp environment.’  What’s that mean?  Well, instead of hanging with tens of thousands of people the event organizers have set the crowd limit to no more than 5,000.  That’s a good number for some nice intimate sets.

Also very cool is that aside from playing their own music a number of bands have dedicated time to do a tribute set.  You can catch Turkuaz performing Sly  &  The  Family  Stone, Twiddle running through a set of Grateful Dead songs or sit back and watch Alan  Evans’ Playonbrother smother you with some classic Cream.

You will obviously be doing some camping at the festival and another great thing is the proximity of the campgrounds to the event stages.  You are no more than a short walk to get from your camp site to the music.  With the crowd limited to 5,000 you can be sure you will have a good view of any of the bands you want to watch.

This is just the beginning of our coverage on the Catskill Chill Music Festival so stay tuned but if you are interested in attending this unique event you better head over to their website now and look into getting tickets.
