Guitar critic gets hammered

A 31-year-old man was severely beaten up because he had asked a housemate to stop playing the guitar in the small hours of Friday morning.

That set off an argument between the two who were living in the workers’ quarters in Dungun, Myanmar. Other workers managed to restrain them and the victim went to bed.

Later while the victim was asleep, the suspect took a hammer and hit him on the head.

In a bid to conceal the attack, the suspect and two other housemates carried the bleeding victim intending to dump him on the side of the road. They were spotted by policemen.

Assistant Commissioner of police, K. Manoharan, said the suspect and his accomplices tried to fool the police by claiming that the victim was hit by a car.

“He was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for treatment and is still in critical condition,” he said, adding that police detained the suspect and two others, aged 21 and 29.

“We recovered the hammer used and discovered blood stains at the quarters.”
