Incubus Heading Back To The Studio

Posted 15 Sep 2014 in News

Fans of Incubus will be excited to know that the band is headed back to the studio and according to singer Brandon Boyd they’ve begun ‘carving away’ at a new album.

The last album, If Not Now, When?’  for the Southern California rockers was released back in 2011 and since then the band has been pretty quiet while the members worked on some other projects.  Boyd released a solo album and guitarist Mike Einziger did some work with EDM artist Avicii as well as contributed to the score for Spider-Man 2.

Rumors started flying about a new album earlier this summer thanks to an Instagram post from Boyd.  The post showed him and Einziger in a studio with a note that simply said ‘Plotting’.  Fans were stoked when Boyd confirmed the rumor by posting some photos of his fellow Incubus members in the studio.  This time his caption read ‘Incubus is carving away at a new record!’

Along with the new album there is sure to be a tour.  Einziger did an interview with the LA Music Blog where he discussed the new record and the bands future plans.  You can read an excerpt from the interview below but be sure to head over to the LA Music Blog for the entire conversation.

I feel like it’s the first album we’ve made since 2006. We start touring Australia in February and plan to just be on the road next year. I would imagine we’ll have something come out in February before the first tour starts early next year. Right now, we have about six songs in various stages of completion; a lot of them are just the music. Brandon’s been out of town, so we’ve been sending him music and he’s been writing lyrics while traveling. Our only concrete plan right now is to work until the end of the year.

For now that’s all we know but stay tuned as we will make sure to keep you updated on any new announcements from Incubus.
