Posted 25 Dec 2014 in News

Roy Haynes has had an incredible career.  If careers were simply judged by longevity Haynes would certainly be close to if not at the top of the list as he approaches his 90th birthday.  But if you judge the quality of a music career based on style, collaborations and pure awesomeness then Mr. Haynes would certainly be considered in that conversation as well.Roy Haynes

The Blue Note in NY will be the host to a run of shows honoring the drummer’s 90th birthday.  If you aren’t familiar with Roy Haynes he’s been playing and performing without any major breaks for over 70 years.  Each of the Blue Note shows are scheduled for March 13 through March 15th, 2015.  Each date will have two scheduled performances with the sets starting at 8:00 and 10:30 pm and anyone in attendance is in for some incredible music.

Each night of the run will include a special guest ranging from bassist Christian McBride and trumpeter Roy Hargrove and Savion Glover (tap dancer).  The full band playing with Roy Haynes will include Martin Bejerano, David Wong and Jaleel Shaw on piano, bass and sax respectively.
