Shocking Details on the Jimi Hendrix Biopic

Posted 12 Mar 2014 in Artist News, Miscellaneous

Fans of Jimi Hendrix were quite dismayed to hear the following statement: the new Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side, will not feature a single one of Hendrix’s actual songs. That’s right. They managed to make an entire movie about Jimi Hendrix without actually getting the rights to any of the songs. As it turns out, these were impossible to wrestle away from Janie Hendrix, who is currently in charge of Jimi’s estate.

The movie, which will feature Andre 3000 of Outkast as Mr. Hendrix, instead opted to put together a band to record new music and covers of Hendrix songs for the movie. While these tunes are no doubt fine in their own right, you can bet that this announcement will tarnish the movie’s reputation for many fans.

In other All Is By My Side news, the interesting practice habits of Andre 3000 have been released to the public. Apparently, in order to learn to play left handed by the start of filming, Andre was subjected to more than 6 hours of practice every single day. He was also paired with a teacher, and told to go to practice rooms and continue rehearsing whenever filming was slow. You can check out his progress when the movie sees its US release later this week.
