As the lead singer of Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, the famous rock singer Joan Jett garnered a lot of respect and attention. In fact, throughout her decade spanning career, she became known as the Queen of Rock and Roll, due in no part to Jett’s penchant for creating fun, catchy rock tunes (think “I Love Rock N’ Roll). However, the singer recently announced a new solo album with claims that this album will be more heartfelt than her previous releases.

Joan Jett announces a new album.

Jett hasn’t released a solo album in more than 7 years, but this does not mean she has not been busy. Between criss-crossing the globe through tours and producing a movie about her first band, The Runaways, Jett has accomplished quite a lot since 2005. However, most devastating of all would be the lost of her parents during this period. Rumors are her upcoming album, which is titled Unvarnished, will deal heavily with this loss as well as the losses of others during this period.

However, this will still be a project be Joan Jett, so be expecting some head bobbing and good time. The album also features guests appearances by none other than Dave Grohl and Lauren Jane Grace, which makes this project certainly worthy of a listen. As always, the rest of the Blackhearts will appear on the record as well.

The album is slated to be officially released in October, but fans can begin hearing tracks from it as early as August 8th, when Jett will star in the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live. Until then, we’ll just have to hope this new album can deliver all that we hope it can.
