Korn Accidentally Announces New Album Release Date
We’ve all been quite excited since guitarist Brian “Head” Welch rejoined Korn earlier this year, after he quit in 2005 to pursue a solo career. The excitement and anticipation grew when the band went into the studio earlier this month to record their 11th studio album. But, we were all still waiting for a release date to bring it all home.
Well we didn’t have to wait for long. Seems that Korn’s drummer, Ray Luzier, posted a pic using Instragram of the band during a press interview. What is interesting is not the picture itself, but the text that accompanied it:
“Korn press Konference in France, we played them parts of 2 new songs off our SIC new record coming out Sept 24th. #korntour2013 #kornfans #korn #korn2013 #fieldy #brianheadwelch #munky #jdevil.”
So for those of us paying attention, the new album is set to be released on September 24th. That is, unless Luzier’s information is bad. We’re not going to bet on that. — UPDATE — Korn has now officially announced the same date as the release of the album. Way to go, Ray!
After controversy over their last album, “The Path of Totality”, they have reportedly dumped the heavy electronic edge to fall back on their guitar-heavy bread and butter. “There’s definitely some electronics on the new album”, said James “Munky” Shaffer. “Not nearly as heavy as Totality, but it feels fresh.” The guitarist continued, “We did go out on a limb there and take some chances – some people liked it, some people didn’t – but with Brian back in the band it makes sense to have a very guitar-heavy album.”
The new album is going to be the first one since “Take a Look in the Mirror” that once again features Welch on Guitar.
