The Latest on The Kinks Reunion

The Kinks have been the subject of reunion rumors for what seems like decades. Its no secret that there has been a rift between Ray and Dave Davies but now there is new news coming out of The Kinks camp.

Is there a Kinks reunion and tour in the works?

On the heels of the musical that was made about The Kinks, The Telegraph had reported that the Davies boys had made up and put their differences aside. This sounded like great news for fans who have been waiting for a reunion. But we need to slow down for a minute because Dave Davies took to his Facebook page to update the fans. His message to fans was:

I met and talked with Ray but nothing has been agreed on yet.

You might be asking why there is so much confusion on whether or not the band will reunite? The issues seems to stem from an interview that Ray Davies did with The Daily Mail. In this interview Ray stated:

I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again. We’ve also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed. He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again. We both agree we don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It’s got to be something new.

So there you have it. It sounds like there is some potential for a future reunion and tour which is good news for fans. But what concerns us is that he clearly states that he doesn’t want to play past hits and ‘old stuff’ (which is what most fans probably want to hear). We’ll all just have to wait and see how things shake out.
