More than £20,000 worth of musical equipment, including a guitar belonging to murder victim Jim Gilchrist, has been recovered by police. The Blues musician was found dead in the River Foyle in September 2005 after a night out at a motorcycle club in the city.

Police were called on Monday after a van was spotted acting suspiciously on the Victoria Road in Strabane. In a follow-up search, police recovered the musical equipment in the Clooney area of Derry, Northern Ireland. The van and its load of musical equipment had been stolen in Muff.

A 21-year-old man was charged with a number of offences, including handling stolen property, motoring offences and assaulting police.

He is to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning. A 21-year old woman was released pending further enquiries.
