An album signed by John Lennon, just hours before he was shot dead, has fetched $38,700 at auction. The “Double Fantasy” album was one of number of items of pop memorabilia which fetched almost £500,000 at an auction in London on June 14th. Lennon’s guitar is trapped

Illinois wants to rescue John Lennon’s guitar from the defunct Peace Museum. The guitar and other stuff has been sitting at storage sites, one of which may have “suffered significant water and mold damage,” Attorney General Lisa Madigan says. Madigan says that since no one, including museum administrator Melissa McGuire, has reregistered as a museum trustee, its valuables should to be handed over to “bona fide” charitable organizations. Yoko sells rights to Lennon’s letters

Lennon was a profilic letter writer and the collection includes hundreds of letters he wrote throughout his life. Yoko Ono has sold rights for a reported fee of over £500,000ukp to a London publishing house. The collection is scheduled to be published in October 2012. Source: NME

Yoko opposes parole for Lennon’s murderer

Yoko Ono has written to the parole board at Attica prison in New York opposing the possible release of John Lennon’s killer Mark Chapman. Chapman is scheduled to be interviewed by the board next week (beginning August 9) in regards to gaining parole.
