LiveMetallica

This is something I just came across and wanted to share as I know we have a ton of Metallica fans out there.  There isn’t much of a major story here other than the fact that you can download some free Metallica music from back in the day!  This isn’t the first offering from the band however it is the most recent and is really a classic Metallica show including many of their high energy, hi octane hits. 1. On the band’s website today they’ve come clean. They’ve been collaborating with Lou Reed on a 10 track album and have now finished recording. From the website; “A few months ago our own Kirk Hammett hinted at a new Metallica project that’s “not really 100 percent a Metallica record.” While…

In May this year Metallica plan to undertake a radical (for them) recording project. Start to finish they’re aiming to wrap up an album within a fortnight. As Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone, “We want to record it in two weeks. It’s not really 100 per cent a Metallica record. It’s more a recording project than a bona fide Metallica. Whether or not we can pull it off in just two weeks remains to be seen.” Source: NME

’80s Guitar Gods Converge On Minneapolis

Posted 15 Oct 2009 in General News

minnpost.comMetallica and Mould: ’80s guitar gods play across the street from each other in Minneapolis Thrash music is about as subtle as a punch in the mouth – or a dozen punches in two seconds. During the 1980s, however, a pair of now-legendary bands, Husker Du and Metallica, transformed thrash into a thing of beauty without sacrificing any of its blunt force or blitzkrieg speed. The not-so secret ingredient in the success of both bands were guitarists capable of shredding…
