Unfathomable Ruination Locked in Cube

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen at a show? We’re sure that off the top of your head, there’s probably a number of fantastic stories of live heroics. However, UK death metal act Unfathomable Ruination may top all of those stories. The group has recently announced plans to play inside of an airtight, soundproof cube three nights a week throughout July. The band will continue to play inside of the cube until the oxygen runs out; at this point, the performance is over.

While this concept is quite interesting, it’s important to note that in addition to being airtight, the box is also opaque and soundproof. That means that visitors to the Gherkin in London won’t actually be able to see the band or make out any of the songs. Instead, they’ll be presented with a cube that vibrates strangely and likely emits a very small, indistinguishable bit of the band’s tunes. Fans will only be able to watch the entry and exit of the band. The stunt is part of Joao Onofre’s art exhibit “Box Sized Die”. This is definitely one of the most unique shows we’ve ever heard of, though it would perhaps have been interesting to actually see and hear the band.
