Duff McKagan Finally Reunites with Guns N’ Roses

Guns N’ Roses are one of those classic bands that has suffered through so many lineup changes, they’re practically a different band. Sure, everyone knows the classic lineup with Slash and Axl Rose, but few people realize that Buckethead, Robin Finck, and Josh Freese have also had their turns in the lineup. Because of the ever changing nature of the lineup, it’s easy to see why past members may not want to reunite with the current incarnation of GNR. This was exactly the case with Duff McKagan, the bassist of GNR from 1985 – 1997. Therefore, one can imagine how excited fans were when the announcement that McKagan would be filling in for Tommy Stinson on the upcoming tour came out.

This performance marks McKagan’s first show with GNR since 1997, which is fourteen years. So far, the bassist has performed five dates with the band, and plans on playing at least four more before Stinson returns. Both McKagan and Stinson were reportedly ecstatic about the opportunity; after all, Stinson has basically been mimicking McKagan’s parts for years, while McKagan hasn’t had an opportunity to play those parts for more than a decade. In all, this was a great reunion for both the band and fans.
