Raising Sand

Perhaps at first, one might not pair legendary rock icon,Robert Plant with the bluegrass and country influence of Allison Krauss but after you hear “raising sand” in its entirety, it makes perfect sonic sense.

Linkin Park

While Linkin Park is still one of the largest rock bands in the world, there’s little doubt they have already passed their heyday. The group likely reached its peak following the release of their album Hybrid Theory, and indeed to this day that album is a fan favorite. You can imagine how exciting it must have been for these fans, then, when Linkin Park played Hybrid Theory in full during Download Festival. Linkin Park isn’t the only band reliving their…

Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo is underway as usual its off to a great start.  If you aren’t one of the fortunate ones who was able to attend the event this year at least there is a little good news.  That good news comes in the form of the live stream.   Sure there is no comparison to actually being there.  You don’t get to experience the weather, the love from other concert-goers and of course the overall ‘Bonnaroo’ experience.  But you can watch…

Bonnaroo 2014

Well friends, the time is finally here: the utterly massive Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee is finally upon us. This giant festival will act as the four day for more than 100,000 individuals, and has grown a reputation for being one of the weirder, anything goes type festivals. In our book, that equates to a fantastic weekend, and it’s for that reason that one of our Guitar News Daily staff writers will be onsite at Bonnaroo all…

Lars Ulrich

You may remember us telling you about the recent Chad Smith vs. Will Ferrell drum battle. The epic clash took place on The Tonight Show, and was particularly epic because of the similarity of Smith and Ferrell in appearance. To highlight this, both men wore the same outfit (including a KISS T-shirt) as they took turns drumming for The Tonight Show audience.   Obvious hilarity ensued until it was time for Will and Chad to get serious.  The battle ended…

Guns N' Roses

For a band that for all intents and purposes disappeared years ago Guns N’ Roses, specifically Axl Rose, have done an incredible job staying in the press. Guns N’ Roses Reunion? Since Slash, Duff and the rest of the original lineup left the band Guns N’ Roses has been nowhere close to the freight train that took over the rock scene a few decades ago.  That may be about to change.  Well maybe not anytime soon but there are rumors…

Beastie Boys

Last week we reported on the lawsuit filed by the Beastie Boys against the Monster Energy Drink company for copyright infringement for the use of some of their songs in an advertisement.  The verdict is in and the Beasties were awarded a nice sum of money. There was initially some back and forth between the Beastie Boys and Monster regarding the amount of damages being requested.  The B-boys filed suit for $2.5 million while Monster countered saying that they were…
