Time to get funky.  The Funky Meters have announced an all ages show at The Brooklyn Bowl and all ages are welcome.

The show is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday April, 18th at the Brooklyn Bowl.  It’s going to be hosted by the Rock and Roll Playhouse and fits in nicely with the bands scheduled gigs.  If you are in the area make sure catch some great music.

Funky Meters

For those of you funksters who can’t be at the Brooklyn Bowl show the Funky Meters will be joining Earphunk and George Porter Jr’s Runnin Pardners on May 16th.  This show is for the southerners and the band will be playing the outdoor stage at Pisgah Brewing Co.  You can check out more details here.

As the weather is heating up so is the music so make sure you get out there and see some bands.  No matter what type of music you like there is going to be a great show coming to a town near you.

Three of the four original members brought the band back together, with Russell Batiste replacing Zigaboo as drummer. Nocentelli was next to leave, and with Brian Stoltz as their new guitarist, the Funky Meters were born. Although they perform mostly the songs of the original Meters, the Funky Meters are definitively unique, and have been touring under the name since 1989. Blending funk, blues, and dance grooves, the quartet bring a taste of New Orleans to cities across the country, and they’ve performed at auspicious festival Bonnaroo and at the historic Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado. Singer and keyboardist Art Neville still performs with his three siblings as the Neville Brothers, one of New Orleans’ most famous musical families. Bassist Porter, Jr. is a coveted studio musician and has worked with Tori Amos and David Byrne. Russell Batiste, Jr. has drummed for Harry Connick, Jr. and jazz legend Maceo Parker. Guitarist Stoltz pursued a solo career and is a Grammy-winning songwriter who has worked with Bob Dylan.
