“Trans Genred” Smashes All Records for
Six String Bliss Album Releases!

Worldwide Launch – Monday, October 25th, 2010

Six String Bliss is many things: it’s a website, it’s the longest-running guitar podcast on the internet, and it’s a community. What started out as a one-off idea, putting out an album of listener-submitted Christmas songs in December 2007(A Blissful Christmas, Episode 92), became a more ambitious undertaking in November 2008 with the release of Stay Tuned (Episode 125), when the decision was made to release a new album twice a year. Since then they’ve released Big Screen Bliss in March of 2009 (Episode 142), Scales of Horror in October 2009 (Episode 169), and What The Fuzz in May of this year (Episode 187). The newest offering, Trans Genred, is poised to earn International attention, as it has smashed every record for a Six String Bliss album release.

According to Alicia Searcy, co-host of the Trans Genred album release podcast (Episode 210): “Who knew that a little podcast about guitars would garner such enthusiastic attention over an album project? Trans Genred, the most ambitious Six String Bliss album project to date, boasts 18 song submissions from nine countries with four transcontinental collaborations. The contributions are split equally between veterans and newcomers who submitted their genre-bending tunes and have made this Six String Bliss’ biggest musical project to date.

The scope of this project, along with the wide range of musical styles that make up the end result, guarantees this album has something for everyone. It’s simply amazing; no doubt about it!”

Each of the albums that Six String Bliss has issued to date has been based around a theme, many of which were suggested by the community at large. A Blissful Christmas was Christmas-oriented songs (including original material), Stay Tuned was TV theme songs, Big Screen Bliss was songs popularized by or associated with movies (including theme songs), Scales of Horror was all-original, Halloween themed songs, and What The Fuzz was based around the fuzz effect (whether used on guitar or not). The theme for Trans Genred is to remake a song in an entirely different and hopefully unexpected genre than the original.

All guitarists are welcome to join in the fun of the Six String Bliss Forum. Projects like this will continue to thrive so long as there is an active community to make these happen. So please come by, introduce yourself, and join in the next project!

Podcast Episode 210 which will feature Trans Genred will be up on the RSS Feed (www.sixstringbliss.com) and on iTunes at 11:00PM (CDT) Monday, October 25th, with the show notes added to the website soon thereafter. As always, there will be a direct download link from the main website which will include the Album itself, as well as front and back cover art and liner notes. These albums are available to the general public for free – you just have to go and get them!
