Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” Smashes Charts

Remember Coldplay? Of course you do, that band has been literally everywhere. It also, at least to us over here at Guitar News Daily, seemed like a lot of people got sick of hearing the band after their fourth or fifth hit album.

Coldplay Ghost Stories

After Viva La Vida, it appeared as if Coldplay’s relevance took a turn downwards. However, this is apparently not the case, as the outstanding numbers behind Coldplay’s most recent release, Ghost Stories, definitively proves. The album, which was originally released on May 19th, received mixed reviews from critics, but the public appears to love it, as the track is currently topping charts in 72 countries.

On the first day alone, thy sold 82,000 copies. This currently places it as the year’s fastest selling album from the UK. The album is their sixth LP so far, and like every single previous release Coldplay has done, seems ready to take the number one position. Think about that for a second. This band has never written an album that wasn’t a number one best seller. Ever. That’s stunning, even to us, and we have to give our hats off to songwriter Chris Martin and the rest of the guys in Coldplay for doing what they do so effectively.

Coldplay is out on the road in support of Ghost Stories and they certainly are worth the price of admission.  You are guaranteed to hear the hits you want and some great new songs too.  For the bigger fans of the band make sure you check out their facebook page to enter to win a signed copy of Ghost Stories.
