Posted 09 Apr 2009 in Artist News

Hey, Conor Oberst is releasing a free behind the scenes documentary of his last 18 months on tour. Why should you care?

1) Every Indie music loving chick we work with has a crush on Conor Oberst. It can’t hurt for you to know a little about him.

2) The documentary is free.

3) It was directed by his guitar tech. No word on if the tech got paid extra for this.

Read Spin.com’s story on the matter below.

Before Omaha indie boy wonder Conor Oberst releases Outer South, his second album with the Mystic Valley Band (out May 5), he will drop a behind-the-scenes film (out April 15), which follows him and his band over the past 18 months. The best part? It’s totally free!

One of My Kind was directed by Oberst’s guitar-tech, Phil Schaffart, and follows the group from the recording of their debut in Tepoztlán, Mexico, to the end of their tour at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, TX, where the six-piece tracked the bulk of Outer South. It will be available as a free stream or HD download, courtesy of social networking/charity website Causecast. Fans are urged to donate to one of Causecast’s numerous charities. The 60-minute doc will also be hosted onConoroberst.com and IFC.com, as well as the singer/songwriter’s U.S. labelMerge and U.K. label Wichita.

Outtakes and live acoustic performances from One of My Kind will be available via Causecast partner sites IFC.com, The Huffington Post, and MySpace.

About
