The owner of a countertop business who stored several firearms in his building reported four AK-47 assault rifles, a shotgun and a Fender guitar stolen Monday.

According to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the owner of Harvey and Sons Counter Tops, 2733 E. Orlando Road, said he kept the items at his business because he was concerned that someone would break into his house to steal them while he was at work.

Owner Ricky Harvey told a deputy he was at his business until about 7:30 p.m. on the evening of Sept. 26. According to the report, when Harvey returned on Monday, he found someone had broken in through a window and had stolen four Romanian AK-47s valued at a total of $5,000; an Escort Hartsman single-barrel 12-gauge shotgun valued at $349; and a Fender Strat guitar valued about $1,100.

Investigators found drops of blood on a desk, an ammunition box, a chair, and on other surfaces inside the business, the report said.

The burglary is under investigation, and an officer safety warning was issued for the missing guns.
