Gibson Electric Guitar Artist Models Series

Posted 29 Sep 2012 in Electric Guitar

Ok so maybe this isn’t ‘technically’ guitar news but I liked it and I’m writing this article so there you have it.  I was browsing Gibson’s website and got stuck looking at the Gibson Guitar: Artist Model Series.  Obviously everyone pretty much knows a Gibson on sight.  It’s a classic line of Guitars and I was just looking through all the different models.  There are so many different models that I wanted but I would have to sell everything I own 3 times if I wanted to be able to afford them all.  You know…the Les Paul, SG, Flying V or Doublecut to start with.

Ok so what’s my point right?  I finally made it to a section of the website titled ‘Artist Models’ and was intrigued.  Once I clicked in there I felt like a kid rockin out with music blaring in my room…wailing on my tennis racket (my guitar) like Angus Young, Ace Frehley and numerous other heroes.

As I scrolled through about 7 pages of this section I saw that you could get the same model that many of your favorite artists use.  I know this isn’t anything new but it IS something that’s really cool (if you happen to have $800-$10,000 laying around to spend on a new axe).   I’d love to be rockin a Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior.  Maybe the Zakk Wylde Les Paul Bullseye.  What about a Slash “Appetite” Les Paul Standard or the John Lennon 1965 “Casino” Outfit.  You get it…it’s really cool to me cuz that’s exactly what I was imagining as a kid in my room with that tennis racket.  If you were so inclined you could even snatch up a Tom Delonge Gibson Custom…They literally had dozens of styles from some of the most popular artists around.

Like I said in the opening.  This isn’t technically guitar news but it is about guitars so I suppose that counts…right?  If you don’t believe me then head on over to Gibson Guitars website and check out the Artist Model line for yourself.
