Jimmy Page Awarded Doctorate

Few honors are as noteworthy as honorary doctorate. This award is essentially a PhD degree offered to a select few individuals who do not hold a degree in a particular field but made significant contributions to the field regardless. Thus, one can imagine that when Jimmy Page, the guitarist of legendary heavy rock group Led Zeppelin, received his honorary doctorate from Berkley College of Music on May 9th.

Page received his award along with the actual college graduates that day, as well as stopping to say a few words about how important music is to him and what an honor receiving the degree was. As is tradition, Page can now officially refer to himself as Dr. Jimmy Page, which we have to admit has a pretty nice ring to it.

In other Led Zeppelin news, have you guys heard about the upcoming Zeppelin remasters? Page and the remaining members of Led Zeppelin have been really pushing these remasters on the public, and we hope they bring new life to some classic recordings. The remasters will hit shelves soon, but in the meantime, open up your iTunes, throw on “Tea for One”, and enjoy the master works of a newly recognized doctor.
