Korn Guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch Hospitalized
If you are in Russia and hoping to see Korn perform you should take note and pay attention. Guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch released a video and a statement advising fans that he has been hospitalized and will need to miss a few shows while he recovers.
But don’t fear too much. The show will go on and there will be a replacement filling in for Head until he is healthy enough to return to the stage with his fellow Korn bandmates.
Thankfully for Korn fans Welch isn’t in serious danger and he should be able to make a full recovery and reinsert himself into Korn’s lineup. According to reports on Monday May 19th Welch was taken to and admitted to a Russian hospital where he will remain for ‘a few days.’ The number of shows that he will miss is still unknown and hopefully he will make a full and speedy recovery.
Now on to the reason he was admitted to the hospital. Welch was suffering from extreme pain caused by a kidney stone. If you have ever had or known anyone who has had kidney stones then you know how painful this can be. Thankfully, although extremely painful the kidney stone isn’t life threatening.
Korn’s Russian tour is scheduled to run through May 28th and hopefully Welch will recover fast enough to finish up the tour with the rest of the band. Currently Welch’s guitar tech, 19 year old JR Bareis, who also plays with the band Love & Death has been able to step up and fill in. This is a lifesaver for fans who shelled out their hard earned cash to see Korn. Who knows what would have happened to those tickets if Bareis wasn’t available to fill in and keep the show going.
Head released the following statement on his facebook page.
I’m in hospital for a few days. So sorry Russia i cant be at a few shows. I have kidney stone. Thank you SO MUCH for your understanding, well wishes, prayers and love. I am very touched by your hearts in my situation.
There is also a video circulating on Youtube where Welch gives a little more info to his fans. You can watch the video below. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Brian ‘Head’ Welch. Hopefully he recovers and gets back with the band to continue bringing music to Korn fans all over the world.
