Mars Volta and Flea Form Supergroup

Supergroups are a pretty hit or miss concept. On the one hand, sometimes they work out fantastically. On the other hand, sometimes you get an Audioslave. Either way, these groups tend not to produce too many records together, but what they do put out is typically quite interesting. The newest supergroup to pop on our radar goes by the name of Antemasque, and is composed of Flea and a number of the members of Mars Volta.

Now, now. We know what you might be thinking. Flea and the Mars Volta is a bit of a random combination of musicians, after all. Well, before you go writing off the band without even listening to them, you should know that their first single, “4 AM”, has surfaced.

The song itself is pretty heavy and garage rock-esque, which is hardly surprising considering the makeup of the group. All in all, it seems like a pretty solid lead single, and us here at Guitar News Daily are pretty pumped to hear the rest of it.
