Rock bands playing on cruise ships isn’t exactly a new idea, but it’s still one that manages to rack in thousands and thousands of dollars for the organizers. Despite that, heavy rock/metal legends Motorhead have never played a cruise before, or not yet at least. Recent announcements from the band have revealed to the public that Motorhead will be performing on a cruise ship late this year. The ship, which aptly been titled the Motorboat, will sail from Miami or Key West down to Cozumel. As of the writing of this article, fans cannot yet purchase ticket, but as soon as they are available they will be put up for sale at motorheadcruise.com. Furthermore, the group has announced that other prominent bands will join them, but no official names have been released as of yet.

This announcement comes in spite of frontman Lemmy’s recent health problems, which have caused a number of cancellations of other shows, tours, and events. However, reports are that Lemmy’s health is improving, and both he, the rest of the band, and their team seem confident that Lemmy’s health will be stable enough to perform this cruise next fall. Once the official openers have been announced, we’ll let you know, but until then why don’t you drop us a comment speculating on who you might like to see open for Motorhead on the high seas.
