Passafire: A Necessary Addition To Your Reggae Collection

Posted 02 Jun 2014 in Artist News, News

If you are looking to supplement the reggae music in your everyday listening rotation Passafire will breathe new life into your speakers .  Formed in 2003 by a group of guys attending the Savannah College of Art and Design (yes…reggae music from Savannah, GA), Passafire has been releasing music and touring relentlessly delivering their sound to larger and larger crowds.

Passafire

The band consists of Ted Browne (guitar/lead vox), Will Kubley (bass/vox), Mike DeGuzman (keys) and Nick Kubley (drums) and the 4 musicians blend together to create a soundscape that will have any seasoned reggae fan reveling in the warm tones, good vibes and powerful rhythms and melodies that Passafire lays down.

With several albums under their belt, some of which have reached or even debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and years of touring experience the band has clearly jelled.  If the release of the 2013 album Vines is any sort of  indicator Passifire should be around for many years to come.

Fans of bands like 311, Slightly Stoopid or Sublime won’t be disappointed.  Passafire has toured with big time acts such as the aforementioned 311 and Slightly Stoopid as well as other artists such as Matisyahu, Rebelution, The Wailers and Michael Franti.  The sound may be similar in terms of the reggae/rock aspect but Passafire is certainly unique in their own ways.

The band received a lot of buzz at the California Roots festival which took place last month.  You can bet that as more and more people get to hear them that they will be moving up the roster on any festivals they continue to play.  Passafire has already played a ton of shows this year and there are tour dates scheduled through the end of September.  You can find the full tour schedule at the band’s website.  If they are going to be playing any shows near you it would be worth your time to make the trip and see a few sets for yourself.  The combination of reggae and rock is something that they do extremely well and you are sure to spend the entire evening dancing and enjoying the music.

Passafire

We are looking forward to Passafire heading to Florida and will do our best to be at some of the shows and post up some reviews.  Stay tuned but for now go check out Vines and see why Passafire continues to please crowds all across the country.
