Posted 02 Jul 2008 in Accessories, Hardware, News

Would you pay $150 or more for these custom designed and crafted Shark Inlay control and trim plates, made of materials such as White/Black/Gold Mother of Pearl, Paua, Red Abalone, semiprecious stones?  Created by Master Inlay Artist Cliff Suttle to fit PRS guitars, each pieces cut and milled to tolerances in the 1000’s of an inch.

Personally, I have better things to spend my money on, but if you’re keen, head over to www.sharkinlay.com.

$150 on a part that no one can see when you play the guitar??? You’d be better off spending the money on coating the electronics cavity with gold – at least there you’ll get a benefit…

    That’s exactly what I thought… 😀

These things do give you 2.45% more tone…..I swear :p

Maybe if they were fret board inlays they would be cool, at least they would get seen.

But the guy’s artwork is top-notch though… Have you checked out his truss rod covers? Very impressive. He even has a ‘Darth Vader’ design! The force is strong with this one…

I tried something similar many years ago, but my Ibanez Artist (2619, built in 1977) lost a lot of sustain so I put the original metal plate back on.
