KISS Makes Rolling Stone Cover

Just a few days ago, we told you readers all about the KISS controversy that’s raging right now. To recap, the band was accepted into the Hall of Fame, but only as the original incarnation. According to the Hall, any members besides the original four were simply playing roles created by the original four, and thus did not add enough to the rock scene to be considered Hall of Fame material. The band, naturally, does not agree with this policy, and the entire affair has somewhat exploded in the face of the Hall of Fame.

The controversy has also caused huge amounts of tension between the original lineup, as the two remaining members (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley) invited former members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss to play alongside the new members in the Hall of Fame induction concert. This apparently deeply offended Criss and Frehley, both of whom are still somewhat bitter about the decades of animosity between the band members. Furthermore, neither wish to participate in the inevitable reunion tour that the original lineup of KISS would have to embark upon should they play together once more.

In all, the whole ordeal is quite the debacle, so much so that it landed KISS a spot on the cover of Rolling Stone, for the first time ever. That’s right, KISS, one of the most iconic rock bands of all time, has never been on a Rolling Stone cover up until this month, simply because they cannot stop bickering and play their induction show. Congratulations, KISS. You really earned this one.
