About Dave Abrams

Dave Abrams - Guitar News Daily Dave Abrams is a life long music fanatic. Much to the dismay of his parents and neighbors he decided that he was going to be a drummer at a very early age. By age 12 you could find Dave annoying the neighbors and anyone within earshot of his garage with his incessant drumming. After years of drumming he realized that drummers don't get enough attention and decided to try his luck at the guitar. That experiment failed miserably so he decided instead of torturing listeners ears with his own music that he would share his love of all things musical by reporting on bands, festivals and new releases instead.

Phish

Phish fans know that spending Halloween with Phish is usually an experience unlike many others.  The band has been known for putting on a ‘musical costume’ at their Halloween shows and delighting Phans by playing an album from another band in its entirety (that’s Phish’s costume).  However, last Halloween Phish did something a little out of character and played their own new material from what would eventually become Fuego.  Is this a sign of things to come for future Halloween…

Gene Simmons is back in the news again. Not for his music with KISS and not because of the Arena Football team he is part owner of. This time he had some more controversial statements to make.

One of the main things we like to do here at Guitar News Daily is showcase new bands that stand out and are doing things a little differently than the norm.  I was lucky enough to come across a newly formed South Florida 4 piece group called SoleMark.  Let’s take a closer look and see what SoleMark is all about.

Mike Love Permanent Holiday

This isn’t an article that is so much about Guitar News as it is about FREAKIN AWESOME guitar! If you haven’t heard of Mike Love (no not the one from the Beach Boys) you need to stop what you have going on right now and cut out about 11 minutes so you can watch this video. The video is simple and straight forward.  A guy with a guitar and a guy with some percussion and a hell of a lot…

Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield

The decades old animosity between Metallica and former guitarist Dave Mustaine is no secret to any fan of either Metallica or Megadeth.  However, it looks like things have started to change.

Ready! Set! moe.

moe

I’ve been anticipating moe. coming to Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale for several months.  As soon as it was announced I made sure my schedule was clear and that I had my tickets.  Even though it seems like the band has been on the road non-stop for the last year this is the first opportunity I had to catch them this year. Before I get into the incredible show let me tell you a little about the venue. The maximum…

Genesis

For years fans have been screaming for a reunion of the Peter Gabriel Genesis lineup.  There is a reunion in store however its not exactly the one that fans want. Genesis Reunion? When you think of the band Genesis most likely you are thinking of their classic songs.  Although the band has undergone a few lineup changes over the years the 1975 version of Genesis is the one that really rocked.  The lineup from this time included Peter Gabriel, Phil…

Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo is underway as usual its off to a great start.  If you aren’t one of the fortunate ones who was able to attend the event this year at least there is a little good news.  That good news comes in the form of the live stream.   Sure there is no comparison to actually being there.  You don’t get to experience the weather, the love from other concert-goers and of course the overall ‘Bonnaroo’ experience.  But you can watch…

Ballyhoo! High Energy Punk Rock Reggae Party Music

Ballyhoo!

Ballyhoo! is a band that if they aren’t on your radar yet they will be very soon.  They have been traveling the country and rocking fans with their own brand of ‘punk rock reggae sex music’ and leaving a trail of exhausted and happy fans in their wake. Opening for acts like 311 and Slightly Stoopid their sound gets the party started every time. I had the chance to ask singer/songwriter Howi Spangler a few questions so we can find…
